The Ogunquit Playhouse’s 2019 Season: Current Shows
As always, the Ogunquit Playhouse—which has been a fixture of this stretch of the Southern Maine seacoast since 1933—is in the midst of a stellar season defined by crowd-pleasing variety and top-quality performances.
With Cabaret just ended, the Playhouse is currently presenting Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, a trainbound tale of mystery featuring the one-and-only Hercule Poirot’s detective skills that runs through August 31st.
After that, the Playhouse presents Menopause the Musical ®, a comedy it describes as “a raucous celebration of womanhood inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine.” It’s taking over the Playhouse stage from September 4th through September 14th.
From September 18th through October 27th, meanwhile, the Ogunquit Playhouse’s regular season closes out with Kinky Boots, which landed six Tony Awards, including for the score by none other than Cyndi Lauper.
These upcoming summer and fall shows come on the heels of earlier 2019 Ogunquit Playhouse smash hits, which besides Cabaret included Jersey Boys and 42nd Street.
