Family Friendly Hotels for OgunquitFest

One of the highlights of the jampacked festival year here in the Beautiful Place by the Sea is coming up fast: that great autumnal community celebration known as OgunquitFest! It’s the 15th annual edition of this town-wide weekend event, and we invite you to call home an Ogunquit.com property—the Gorges Grant Hotel, Juniper Hill Inn, Cottage at Acorn Lane, or the Milestone—for the proceedings.

OgunquitFest 2018

OgunquitFest is an all-ages community party, and easily one of the most happening weekends to find yourself in the Beautiful Place by the Sea. This year’s 15th Annual OgunquitFest goes down Saturday, October 20th and Sunday, October 21st, so why not iron down your Ogunquit.com accommodations—beautifully maintained, centrally located in town, and all-around charming—today so that you’re all set to enjoy the festivities?

An OgunquitFest Highlights Reel

There’s quite a lot going on during those two days, but we’ll try to at least give you a taste for what’s in store. Emphasis-on-the-fun contests will be held throughout the weekend, including the Whoopie Pie Eating Contest (11:30 AM Saturday at the Old Village School Playground); the Dogtoberfest Pooch Costume Contest (11:30 AM Sunday at the end of Beach Street), featuring a whole pack of dressed-up pups; the Waiter Races (noon Sunday at also the end of Beach Street), which involve negotiating an obstacle course balancing a full tray; and the High Heel Dash & Walk-Off (3 PM Sunday in Perkins Cove), for which you can wear your own heels or borrow a pair.

From noon to 6 PM on Saturday, meanwhile, Footbridge Bridge will host a military-grade ruck event as a fundraiser for Gold Star families. These backpack-hauling challenges will be spread across three different fitness categories, all aimed at adults.

What else? Beginning at 2 PM on Saturday, you can get out on the water during the non-competitive River Rally, which’ll see kayakers and stand-up paddlers make their way from the Ogunquit Footbridge and the Beach Street bridge and back.

Staying with us with kids? They’re sure to love the Great Pumpkin Patch Presentation down at the Dunaway Center from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday: a chance to decorate (not carve) pumpkins and perhaps pay a bit of tribute to Linus while you do.

Then there’s the Autumn Bazaar going down both days in the Main Beach parking lot, which’ll also host the Antique & Classic Car Show on Saturday, plus a free wine tasting at Perkins & Perkins Wine and Cheese Saturday night and an all-ages Costume Parade at 11 AM on Sunday from Ogunquit Village School to Main Beach.

Have we tempted you yet? We hope so, because OgunquitFest is a complete blast and a lovely way to mark autumn on the Southern Maine coast. Reserve your Ogunquit.com guest room or suite today for the weekend of October 20-21, and we’ll look forward to hosting you for this always-awesome bash!
