Introducing Harvest on the Harbor

Begun in 2007, Harvest on the Harbor pays tribute to (in the words of its organizers) “Portland and Maine’s local- and independently owned restaurants and the crave-worthy food, beers, ciders, wines, and spirits that attract travelers to Maine each year.”

Portland, after all, has emerged as a leading national culinary destination, having nabbed such honors as “The Restaurant City of the Year” and “Foodiest Small Town in America.” An awesome diversity of chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers, brewers, producers, and other individuals give the city a wonderfully varied and high-quality wining-and-dining scene, complemented and supported by farmers, fishers, growers, and food artisans in other parts of the state.

It’s all on display at Harvest on the Harbor, the 2019 edition of which takes place October 17th through October 20th at Brick South (8 Thompson Point Rd, Portland, ME).

The Event

The 21-and-over fun of Harvest on the Harbor gets underway on Thursday evening with the Chef + Farmer Harvest Dinner, a multi-course collaboration that benefits Full Plates Full Potential.

Then there’s the (count ’em) 10-course luncheon on Friday determining the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year, Saturday’s Bloody Mary Brunch (featuring the Pig Kaguna’s roast pork breakfast tacos) and afternoon Oysterfest feast, and the HOTH Market on the Harbor, closing proceedings out on Sunday with a full-fledged shopping and culinary blowout.

Along with Full Plates Full Potential, part of the Harvest on the Harbor proceeds also go to other worthy causes: the Maine Aquaculture Association and the Southern Maine Community College Culinary Program.
