The Wells & Ogunquit Memorial Day Parade

Memorial Day, of course, is dedicated to celebrating those men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who’ve fallen in the line of duty. Ogunquit and the village of Wells to the near north host a two-part Memorial Day parade, which is a wonderful way to pay your respects. The parade begins in Wells at 9 AM and starts its Ogunquit leg at 11 AM on Bourne Lane, with a Memorial Day ceremony afterward.

With Ogunquit.com accommodations, you’ll be within easy, walkable reach of the parade route here in town!

York’s Wild Kingdom: Opening Weekend

Memorial Day weekend also marks the kickoff to York’s Wild Kingdom’s 2018 season. The only combination zoo and amusement park in New England, this popular destination—which annually hosts better than 200,000 visitors—is just minutes away from Ogunquit, making it an excellent choice if you’re staying with us as a family. The zoo portion includes a bevy of beasts from all across the globe: ostriches to cassowaries, toucans to macaws, Bengal tigers to African lions, marmosets to lemurs. And the amusement park, meanwhile, offers better than 20 rides especially designed for littler kids: Bumper Boats, the Scrambler, the Safari Bounce, and the Jungle Funhouse, to name a few.

Another highlight of York’s Wild Kingdom? The Butterfly Kingdom, shimmering with many different varieties of colorful Neotropical butterflies.
